FUTURE ENGLAND STAR?
Friar Lane & Epworth 1-6 Derby County
Cara's been playing football since she was a young girl. Now she plays for Derby County Ladies and England U17s. She'd like women's football to have a higher profile. Playing football for your country is known as every schoolboy's dream. But some schoolgirls have that same dream, too. Cara Newton is just 16, but already she has quite a football career behind her and her dream has become a reality. Cara has recently returned from playing with the England U17 squad in Denmark. If all goes well, she may move up to Under 19 level. But she also wants the women's game to be taken more seriously and urges people not to judge it until they've seen it. Cara plays right midfield for Derby and as a forward for England, and she reckons she could take on most lads at the game. Her personal keepie-uppie record is 394!

"I started playing when I was around the age of seven. I started playing with Ilkeston Ladies. My dad's a big football fan and I've lived in a pub all my life, so being around a lot of men doesn't help I suppose! I just carried on playing and got a big interest in the sport. I played for a few different clubs and then ended up with Derby! It was always a dream, but I never thought it would happen. Now it's come it's all a bit surreal. I'll just keep training hard and see where it takes me. It's no different to the men's game but we don't get the same attention. Most people assume they know what it's like without having seen a game at the top level."
